Upside Down Text Generator

This tool rotates your text 180 degrees by substituting each letter with a Unicode character that looks like its upside-down counterpart, then reversing the character order — the same trick used for genuinely flipped, readable-when-rotated text.

About upside down text generator

How a flip is actually done with plain text

There's no character-rotation feature in text rendering, so this works by lookalikes: for example 'e' is swapped for 'ǝ', which is what a lowercase e looks like rotated 180°. The whole string is then reversed, since flipping a line of text upside down also reverses its reading order.

Not every character has a flip

A handful of letters — like l, s, x, and z — already look the same right-side up or upside down, so they're left unchanged. Others simply don't have a natural-looking flipped counterpart in Unicode and fall back to the original letter.

Common uses

Upside-down text is mostly used for novelty — pranks, jokes in a caption, or a visually odd username — rather than anywhere readability matters.

Frequently asked

Is this the same as 'mirror' text?

No. Mirror text reflects left-to-right like a mirror image, while upside-down text rotates 180 degrees. This tool is specifically the upside-down (rotated) version.

Why does my text look wrong after flipping?

Numbers, punctuation, and a few letters don't have true upside-down Unicode equivalents, so those characters may not flip convincingly — this is a Unicode limitation, not an error in the conversion.

Does upside-down text work in usernames?

Generally yes, since it's still just standard Unicode characters, but some platforms restrict which Unicode ranges are allowed in username fields specifically.
