Every “fancy font” generator on the internet is really a Unicode text converter. There are no fonts being installed and no images being created. Your letters are simply being swapped for different characters that already live inside the Unicode standard.
This page explains how the trick works and gathers every converter on this site in one place.
How a Unicode text converter works
Unicode assigns a unique number to every character your devices understand: over 150,000 of them. Hidden among those are entire alternate alphabets: mathematical bold (𝐚𝐛𝐜), italic (𝑎𝑏𝑐), blackletter (𝔞𝔟𝔠), circled letters (ⓐⓑⓒ), fullwidth (abc), and small capitals (ᴀʙᴄ).
A converter walks through your text letter by letter and replaces each one with its counterpart from one of these blocks. Because the output is genuine text, not styling applied on top, it survives copying, pasting, and posting into any app that accepts text.
Why some characters do not convert
Unicode was not designed for decoration. Some blocks are incomplete by design: there is no superscript “q” in the standard phonetic block, subscript only covers a handful of letters, and mathematical alphabets skip characters that would look identical to existing symbols. Good converters leave the original character in place rather than inventing a lookalike, which is exactly what ours do.
Combining marks: the special case
Strikethrough, underline, and zalgo text use a different mechanism: combining characters that attach themselves to the previous letter. A strikethrough line is not a character of its own: it is U+0336, “combining long stroke overlay,” glued onto each of your letters. Stack enough combining marks and you get zalgo's famous glitch effect.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Unicode text converter?
A Unicode text converter replaces each letter you type with a visually different Unicode character (bold, italic, circled, blackletter, superscript and more), producing styled text you can copy and paste anywhere.
Is converted text a real font?
No. No font is installed or downloaded. The converter outputs different Unicode characters that happen to look like bold or italic letters, which is why the styling travels with the text when you paste it.
Why do some letters stay normal after converting?
Some Unicode blocks do not include every letter or digit. When no styled equivalent exists, the original character is kept so your text stays complete and readable.
Where can I paste converted Unicode text?
Almost anywhere that accepts text: Instagram bios and captions, TikTok, Discord, X/Twitter, WhatsApp, YouTube titles, and most game usernames.
